Best thing about this place is the size of their hot wings - effing ginormous. Decent beer selection, good view of tvs for almost all seats. Plays sports and espn - always local teams on. Wish they delivered more from their menu than just pizza. They are open later than most restaurants in the area, however, this doesn't mean their kitchen will be open. I've been caught a few times running there after work, to get an order in before closing time and the kitchen closed 30 to even 60 mins before they locked the doors. Most places I've gone to keep at least a few things on the menu available until actual closing time... sandwiches, sausages, anything would be better than being told that they shut the kitchen down already even though business hours say you're open for thirty+ more minutes... Just seems a bit misleading. And did I mention their deliveries? Pizza only. Even though they have every ability to make an order to go, they will only deliver pizza. Again, makes "we deliver" seem misleading. Most pizza only joints will deliver anything on their menu (sandwiches, sides, salads, drinks...) What's the point of delivering only *some* of your menu? The two star rating is due mainly to the fact that they say one thing and in realty its something different. I'd be more inclined to rate three stars if they just changed their signs to say what is really going on: OPEN TILL MIDNIGHT! (but we kill the kitchen when we damn well feel like it - so call ahead!) DELIVERY! (if you want pizza ONLY - otherwise, tough shit. xoxo management)

Returned and very pleased again! Loved the zuccini sticks and my Granddaughter really liked the chicken tenders. Plan to try the fondu on my next visit. The service was excellent again! Matt at the grill does a great job with a smile. He was helpful when I wanted extra dip for the zucchini. Very friendly too. The place has a great staff and seemed the customer is very important them. Great family friendly place to go and if you like sports it is sure to please! Highly recommend!

What a great place to enjoy pizza, wings and beer. I have been here multiple times, especially after a Friday night high school football game. It seems that this is the place to be to meet the other coaches. Pizza is great and the wings are tasty. The staff is welcoming and buss the tables quickly on a crowded night. The only bummer is that the bathrooms can get pretty messy on a busy night.

Worst pizza I've ever had. I didn't think that someone could actually ruin pizza, but I guess I was wrong.

Get the chicken garlic supreme. Thinking about it makes me drool. So good. You will thank me later.

If you want good pizza time after time. Here you go! Jake's has several locations, but some are named differently, but they all have consistently good pizza. Sunnyvale. Palo Alto and now the San Jose one That coupled with a pitcher of Blue Moon? Sold.

Love, love, love the family pizza restaurant vibe here at Jake's. Feels wholesome and is delicious! Walking in, I'm welcomed with the sight of a smiles and laughter -- it's all very inviting. I'm thinking, "Yup, I can get comfy here." My friends and I ordered the wings, fries, mozzarella sticks, and a small Gilroy pizza. The side wings, fries, and mozz' sticks are all really run of the mill, but they don't suck. I had my doubts that a small would be enough, but lo and behold, the three of us couldn't finish the thing. The Gilroy pie was topped with fresh green onions and tomatoes once it got out of the oven. Hope your mouth is watering. It's a kick ass pie. And, I hear the BBQ Chicken pizza is pretty stellar as well. I left smiling. Nice.

Cheesteaks. Both chicken and steak are good. My friend liked his patty melt and his wife swears by the chicken sandwiches. I grew up going to the Oasis as a child in Menlo Park and the menu here is the same. This is a cleaned up version of the O, however. I have only gotten take-out here so I can only speak for the food. I think I may have had drinks here years ago with a friend before Yelp days, but the memory is foggy.

I will give Jake's a proper review but I needed to express my disappointment from a week ago, went in on Friday night after the rush (thankfully it wasn't packed) but it took the guy behind the grill (Matt) over 20 minutes to make a plain hotdog, 20 minutes!! there was nothing else on the grill when I placed my order. it was extremely annoying for such a long wait, the food is much much better when Luis is cooking on the grill.

Soooooo gooodddd. Pizza is bomb. Must try. Just know it isn't totally cheap, but it is well worth it! Recommend dining there, they have tv's everywhere and when the pizza comes out it is nice, hot, & fresh. MUST TRY JAKE'S!

The buffalo wings here are freaking awesome! They are made to fry and super crispy just the way I like them. Yummo! It comes with a really light blue cheese dipping sauce that's really good and I don't even like bleu cheese! The small pizza comes with 12ish slices! We ate a little less than half and had enough left over for lunch the next day! I will definitely be back for their awesome wings! My mouth is watering just thinking about those little suckers.

I've been going for years and have never been disappointed. The "Gilroy" is da bomb ! Good food , multiple TV's and a good clientele. I just wish they had a larger delivery area. I'd be having them come by every week !

Great place to watch sports with a group! Food is delicious and fast! Love the crust on their pizza! A big thank you for accommodating our Colorado State Football watch party!

Been here twice and both times we had the BBQ Chicken Pizza. Both times it was absolutely delicious. However, even though their food is pretty good it is pricey. $30 for a large pizza...I won't be coming here as often as i'd like to.

The pizza was good, but didn't wow me. The toppings are fresh, and they are generous with them, as everyone else noted--especially the cheese. However, the sauce was a bit spicy--I still added peppers, but my mom is really sensitive to heat, and turned bright red and downed tons of water while eating the veggie pizza. My dad got the Greek, and we all misread the sign that mentions peperoncinis--the way it's written on the board, it looked like pepperoni. He's also not a fan of heat, but took them off, and managed to get a good meal. He chose to leave the leftovers behind, though. (They did have the Giant's game on on every screen around the restaurant though, so I think he left satisfied.) We also got beer and onion rings--the onion rings were good, cheap and a generous portion for the price, the beer was tasty and reasonably priced. I wouldn't fight coming back if I was with a group who wanted to, but I probably won't choose it again myself.

This place has some BOMB pizza. They do not skimp on the toppings which is always a plus! Their pizzas are also reasonably prices and pretty big. My boyfriend and I split a small and we are pretty full on the way out. They have a lot of TVs if you are looking for a spot to watch a game. Minus one star for some not so awesome customer service. I have found that the people behind the register are not always nice or helpful. When I ask someone in the back, who is usually cooking the food, they are ALWAYS nice and accommodating. Maybe those guys should be up at the register instead of the girl with the tude! JMO. :)

Good quality traditional style pizza. Can be noisy, I like to get my pizza for take out. I grew up on this stuff...love me some Jakes!

Was having one of the worst days I can remember and one of the only things keeping me from going postal was a delicious jakes pizza ordered for pick up. I got to jakes at the proper time but they had forgotten to transfer my savior of a pizza into the oven. Taylor saw the look of repressed rage and sadness in my face, offered a sincere apology and handed me a giant glass of beer on the house. Faith in humanity restored. I will be coming back.

we order through doordash online and have never been disappointed. love the 2-topping personal size pizza. it's a good size for lunch and when you can build your own that's always a plus so each person can customize and no complaints about picking off ingredients one person likes and the other dislikes. the crust is really good! actually the crust to sauce to cheese ratio is really on point. not too much of anything and not skimping on anything. i usually get pepperoni and some other ingredient. today is bell pepper and it's abundant! looks like a Christmas pizza with all the red and green toppings LOL i also like their chicken quesadilla. you pick the cheese and it comes with sliced chicken, jalapenos, green onion and tomato. cannot go wrong with pizza or quesadilla here. unfortunately they are so good i haven't tried any of their sandwiches, burgers or specialty pizzas so i cannot comment on the rest of the menu. try the pizza though. you'll like it!

  • Becky C.

This place is nice inside, it's like a combination of a sports bar, your grandpa's living room, and a pizza joint. It's pretty dim which means if I get sauce on my shirt only my table can see it. ;) The pizza was good. My problem with it is the cheese. I asked for my pizza to be well done, and the crust was pretty well cooked, but with the amount of cheese they put on it's impossible to get the rest of the pizza well done (enough). And the other problem with using that much cheese is now that I've refrigerated the leftovers it's completely white and solid. I hate it when the cheese is like that. Kind of unappetizing. Otherwise, the service was good and friendly. Prices are mid-high range for the pizza, decent for everything else.

Update: You've got to try their "Chicken Garlic Supreme" pizza w/ the white sauce. I didn't think I'd be a huge fan (since I love a good red sauce), but I was very pleasantly surprised.

What?! I haven't reviewed Jake's of Willow Glen yet? talk about fallin asleep at the wheel. Great food, service, fun place, good location, but by far and wide, the best pizza I have ever tried. Typically I enjoy Round Table pizza and High Five pizza is also very good. But since the day I tried the Gilroy Special from Jake's, there hasn't been a pie to top it. It's absolutely great stuff. Their pepperoni is also very, very good. Thanks Jake's.

I used to love eating here but the service has gone down. They say they're open until midnight but that's not the case. They will lock the doors around 11:10pm, so forget ordering anything to go. You're better off finding your late night eats somewhere else. 3 strikes and you're out.

I came here for the first time with my boyfriend and a bunch of his friends. This is a great place to go to enjoy a casual dining experience. They have seats for both smaller parties and larger parties, so you're able to enjoy a nice meal with whomever you choose. This place is kind of like a sports bar, with TVs all around. So it makes for a great place to go and enjoy good food and drinks while watching a sports game. The food is pretty good also. I must say, there portions are quite large. A small pizza can definitely be fulfilling enough for two people and a large pizza can be filling enough for at least 4-6 people. They also have pitchers of beer, which is great when you go with a bunch of friends who like to drink!

I Love this place!!! The Gilroy Garlic is the best! Parking sucks but overall best pizza in Willow Glen area!!!

We had our son's end of the season Soccer team party here. The team mom reserved some tables on the left as you go in. I was surprised that it wasn't very busy. I found a parking spot right outside and there were several more. Highly unusual to me for WG on a Tuesday when I compare it to trying to find parking at Aqui down the street. There are a couple of video games to keep the kids busy. There were several sports games on TV including Hockey. Yay! We all ordered separately so I ordered a medium half combination/half pepperoni. I got a Newcastle from tap. The beer was refreshing. The pizza took longer than I had expected. Approximately 25 minutes. When we got it I found it to be really tasty. It had just the right amount of spicy for me. My son liked it as well so it wasn't overly spicy. We had enough to bring some home for my wife and daughter. The only negative to the place was that for this occasion the coach needed to hand out trophies and say a few words. The place is kind of loud with the TV's so it was hard to hear what he had to say. Other than that I would gladly go back. hmm...getting hungry for pizza again...

Well, I'm late to the game on this one. Never ate at Jake's until after I left San Jose! Anyway, I'm liking this place. Sports bar meets great pizza. The selection of specialty pizzas is limited but they are all tasty, and you can easily throw your favorite toppings together for a customized pie. I've also bad both the BBQ and spicy wings. If you can handle sort-of-spicy then go with the spicy wings; they aren't deathly but I think they're more interesting than the BBQ. I can definitely see this as a fun place to watch a Sharks game once the season starts.

This place is really fun with really good food, Pizza is delicious and great portions, chicken wings and burgers are also really good, plenty of beer to choose from, and great to go on a date, or with a bunch of friends. The only reason why this place is not getting 5 Stars is because of their customer service (people at the register and behind the bar). They all need to be a lot more friendly just like their sister restaurant (the Garret) but that is a separate review!

This place would have been so much better had the douche factor not been so high that night. Ugggg. Food is good but the kooks that go there make it kind of suck. Too bad.

First things first. I love pizza, its my favorite thing in the world. We were staying at the Elements for about a month and my bf and I ordered from here twice. It was great each time. We did carry out and got a large by mistake....it was huge, way too much food for two people. Both times the pizza was piping hot and fresh, the crust is great. It was a delicious meld of yummy. The crust was not too thin, not too thick just perfect. I def recommend this place if you want a lazy night in, or are in search of some pizza. One of the ladies in the elevator when I was going back home with my pizza knew it was from Jake's and recommended the wings. We haven't tried them yet but I plan to.

  • Andrea T.

I would rate the pizza as okay. The crust is pretty plain Jane, but they do load up on the toppings. I have yet to try any of the sandwiches, I've heard they're pretty good. Dining in is a bit of a chore since they don't have a wait staff. You have to look up at the menu, and order at the bar. They give you a beeper, then seat yourself and wait for the beeper to go off when your food is ready and then you have to pick it up. Call me lazy, but when I go out I want to limit the amount of time I have to get up and 'help myself' as much as possible. I will definitely go back there and try one of their sandwiches, but I wouldn't say the pizza is the best in town.

Haven't had the pizza here, but everything else is superb. I usually get the chili cheese dog, or some type of sandwich/burger. Totes a heavy hitter if you're willing to fall asleeper.

Pizza here is amazing and reasonably priced. We had the Gilroy. It was topped with lots of fresh cut tomatoes. WOW! It was eye-popping and tastes just as good as it looks. We like the crust of the pizza. Its not too thin nor thick, so its crunchy on the outside, but still has a soft-bread like texture in the inside. We ended up taking the uneaten half of pizza home. The next day, slide it into the toaster oven and it tastes just as good for lunch! This just became our favorite pizza place in South Bay! And this restaurant is configured nicely. You have a clear view of the TV screen every where you choose to sit. Now that is pretty cool!!

My friend took me for a much needed catch up session that only bar food and beer could witness. We shared the buffalo chicken and beef cheesesteak sandwich with a pitcher of beer. Caloric heaven! Both sandwiches come with a side of fries. Ranch dressing is an extra $0.25. Order at the bar, get your vibrator (hee) and wait for the food. Pick it up and enjoy! Have plenty of napkins handy because both of these sandwiches have juicy bits (hee) spilling off including cheese and sauce. Place is bar type with bar food but the food is above average. I would definitely come (hee) again.

This is part of the Jake's/Garret/Boardwalk group. And I am definitely a fan... Popped by for lunch here recently, and had the Reuben with fries. An absolute steal for $7. You order at the counter here and are given a pager that goes off when your order is ready to be picked up. The menu spans from pizza to sandwiches and appetizers, and there are plenty of different beers here... The sandwich was great. I got the impression that the meat was heated on the grill, as opposed to being nuked like you'd see at many other places. A definite neighborhood favorite; I'd be a regular if I lived around here...

4 - star for the pizza and bomb chicken wings... service (especially counter / register folks) not so much

Good pizza. It's a line-up-and-pick-up style place, which works for me. All the beverages I like. All the pizzas I like. We go grab them now and then. We'll do so again.

This place is ridiculous I call in all the time trying to get an order to go at like 11:00 and their like oh actually were closed even know it says their open till 12:00, I've done this like 4 times and each time their like well we closed early its like cool well then don't list that your open till midnight if you never are, get your hours straight and stick to them don't just decide to close whenever you damn well please..

This is one of my favorite hangouts in Willow Glen. There are TV's to watch the game, games for the kids to play, good food, and several choices for beer and wine. The staff is great, especially Tim and Megan! The Asian chicken salad is great if you are looking for a filling and tasty salad. The jalapeno burger is wonderful!

I actually came here for a party I was invited to. I was eating my dinner and then all of a sudden a bigger party arrived. I had seen that they had TWO tables reserved under their name. Few minutes later more people were coming in. Can you believe that the manager had the nerve to kick our party out the table so the other party could be happy . Never in my life have I felt so disrespected. What kind of management is this? I proceeded to talk to the manager that night and his response was, "it wasn't my fault they double booked the tables". If you ever want to get reseated during dinner to satisfy a bigger party than yours, come here :)

When here when a friend recommended we eat at Jake's for lunch. Let's just say it was a great suggestion! They offer a lot of selection but I opted to go for the obvious choice and get pizza. The pepperoni was delicious and it was nice and crunchy. The hot wings are pretty good and the fries are surprisingly amazing. It had the right amount of saltiness and they were crispy. Everything I had was delicious so you can expect me come back here and grub again. I went here around 4:00pm on a Saturday and it was pretty empty but I'd imagine it gets busy later on at night. Especially during sports games.

WHAT? I just realized what happened today. I went to a PIZZA place (well, primarily, right?) and didn't get pizza. I must be ill. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT? Hmmm. I have to think about that. Anyway, we showed up before 11:30. My friend ordered a mini pizza. Then I ordered a Chicken Ceasar (Salad) Wrap. My order came up first. Chips were fresh and colorful, but my friend and I were a little shocked to see that the menu actually did mean fruit COCKTAIL just like it said. It was dumped out of a can and just as disgusting as fruit cocktail in a can is. But the wrap was good. The tortilla was green so I am thinking it was spinach (the menu said, but I forgot). It was soft and seemed pretty fresh (unlike the fruit cocktail), and lettuce seem fresh too. It was good. I liked it. I actually have faith that there are better things on the menu . . . . at least more "Jake" kind of things, but I really wasn't in the mood to try anything like that. I was looking for light and somewhat healthy and I think the wrap fit the bill. The gentleman taking the orders was nice. Since it is right next to where I teach I am sure that I will be back. I want to try the fondue . . . unless it is just melted Velveta. Oh, and I am not sure the prices on the website are the same as in the restaurant. The mini pizza is not priced correctly on the site, not sure about everything else.

Love the meatball sandwhich here with the side of cesar salad. The portions are huge. You can share one with another person and still be super full. I heard the other food is pretty good too. This place is walking distance from my work so i get to enjoy it every once in awhile. My coworkers love the food from here though!

Wow just grubbed the most delish Bacon Cheeseburger ever!!! Super juicy, bacon crispy and gooey melty cheese!! Lettuce, tomato, and onions crispy and fresh. served with seasoned curly fries and a pitcher of beer all for under 15 bucks! Their pizza is amazing as well. but this is now my one and only burger stop!! YUM!! Great friendly staff!

lets just start by saying this place is usually pretty packed! I am not one for packed places but my GOODNESS the pizza is the bomb! a little on the pricier side however the food makes up for it. THIS CRISPY CRUST!mmmmmmmmmmmm melted cheese with not a lot of sauce! if threes one thing i really don't like on pizza is a ridiculous amount of pizza sauce! Though I am hesitant to give them a 5 starts only because of price, my conscious nor my taste buds will let me love this place! 5 stars from the ROMERO FAM BAM!

This place is excellent. Great "after little league game" place to stop by with the family for great pizza, sandwiches and other appetizers. Coincidentally, it's also a great place to stop by with your buddy for an ice cold one (who doesn't love an "all in one" type of restaurant"). I recommend their buffalo wings, pizza, sandwiches and bread and cheese fondue. My rating: A

GREAT PIZZAS here! Get the chicken wings with sauce on the side. The wings here are so big and crispy.

  • Mara T.

GARLIC. If you like it, get the Gilroy Special. Sure it arrives and looks like a regular ole pizza heavy on the sliced tomatoes, but it packs a fiesty garlicy punch. The inside of this place is kitsch... divey but cute. I hear their burgers aren't bad either...but we went for the pizza. Oh their cesear dressing? Heavy on the garlic too. YES.

  • Food A.

Service: Very friendly people. That is why a 2 instead of a 1 rating BUT Wi-Fi: Didn't work. They really should not advertise that they have it Atmosphere: It was HOT inside. The A/C wasn't working. Really no excuse for not having it repaired. This is a business after all. Food: Chicken strips were good. Everything else was very greasy. I could feel my arteries clog as I ate. Would not eat here unless it was the strips. I chose Jake's after reading the reviews. Mistake on my part but it's the first time Yelp let me down. It happens. I just wouldn't go here again unless I wanted to have a heart attack (too greasy)

One of the best pizzas you'll find anywhere. Perfect crust, top grade toppings, great sauce and a nice blend of cheeses. Love this place! I try to make it by Jake's whenever I pass by Willow Glen. Great Philly cheese steak and wings too!

  • L Q.

Love this place! It's an ol' time family pizza place where you can all hang out, shoot the sh*t, watch sporting events, while your kids happily waste quarters on their video games and candy machines (which aren't all candy - some are little toys that keep my 6 yr old occupied for the enitre visit). Great beer on tap, pizza is pretty awesome, and their philly cheese steak is so yummy! OH, and their wings!!! Awesome! We order pizza there for delivery all the time. The reason they're getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because their delivery is sometimes over an hour (we live just down Lincoln), and the girl that answers the phone when we order is some times rude. Other than that, the place is great! It's the only place we ever order pizza from.

    (4)
  • RosiePosie H.

I'm only going to rate their cheesesteaks because my friend swore they were "stick to your mouth" good. They tasted fine but I have a feeling you've got to eat them right on the spot. The bread was soaking wet by the time my husband made the 1.5 mile drive home. What a buzz kill. :( I should have went with my gut and stuck with Amato's.

Coming here on a Friday night it was fairly busy so we took a seat at the bar. The bar is small but has a nice wood finish and comfy chairs. The bartender was kind of unfriendly, a little slow but helpfu when we were asking questions about the beer or food items. We ordered the chicken wings, I thought the sauce was way too much, nothing to scream about and just kind of eh. I also had a salad with blue cheese, which is fairly hard to mess up, so it was pretty good, fresh and tasty. We also ordered a few beers, you can choose the sizes, has a fair selection on tap and was fairly inexpensive. Nothing was amazing, just kind of standard. I might pass in the future . . .

  • David C.

What can i say about jake's if you love pizza this is the place to come to hands down

    (5)
  • Jillian U.

Ok. So maybe I'm biased because I used to be the 'bartender', but the pizza speaks for itself. Luis is the BEST cook and makes the BEST food. David (although he's on the Day shift now) is the best manager. The entire place is a friendly and laid back environment. Be prepared to wait in line on a Friday or Saturday night, but it's worth it!! Great place to watch a game now that they added more tv's and can't skip the bucket of wings and PIZZA!!

    (5)
  • Gina T.

Can i say YUM? well first off, I would like to say the wings are DELISH!!! I like the regular hot wings but sometimes i like to switch it up and get the bbq ones as well. Im sorry to say i've only tried two types of pizza from this place...BUT they were both really good. One of them was the bbq chicken? and the other was just ham and pineapple. The bbq pizza is so bomb, from the crust to the cheese. everything about this pizza is crazy good. the crust is so soft but crispy. You really need to go try for yourself to know what im talking about. I've also ate a couple of other things here which all come in really big portions. The chili cheese dog w/ fries is loaded with chili it came with cheese on the side, so you can add how ever much you like. Ive tried their salads but in my point of view its not so great, but hey it is a pizza place. you can see im a regular so trust my judgement and GO! :)

    (4)
  • Rylan C.

3.5/5 I give them a 3.5 because it's not the best pizza and they don't have the best prices but it's a very comfortable place and a fun place to watch football games. This place is also great for families or large groups. The only confusing thing about this place is that their food serving methodologies are confusing. Once you learn how they serve food here you will enjoy yourself. The only thing I can't stand is that the prices are above average but not by too much. I ordered a BLT and a bucket of wings and my friends ordered a combo pizza. I thought the wings were delicious and so was the BLT (though a little simple and homestyle).

I've been to Jake's just a handful of times & I have absolutely no complaints! The food is yummy, they have beer & wine to wash down with your meal, and there are several tv's to catch a game or whatever, thumbs up!! It gets really packed some evenings & weekends so be prepared to wait a tad for your meal, but it will be delish once you get to eat!

Very clean place. First time I ate there. I was torn between the Big Kahuna burger and the Buffalo Wings. Chose the hot wings. Very good. Will definitely be back to try something else.

One of my favorite places to slop down a greasy meal and take in a ball game. Their pizza is extraordinary. Fantastic combination of crunchy, chewy crust, flavorful sauce, and thick gooey cheese. If you are a sausage lover, I highly recommend topping a pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and linguica--quite a meaty trio treat. The sandwiches are also a win-win decision. Philly Cheesesteak is oh so delish; and mixed with curly fries and a trough of ranch is where you'll find yourself entranced in a beefy Babylonian bliss. In the immortal words of Dick Vitale, "He's a ptper baby--a PRIME TIME PLAYER!!

Oh Jake's, if it wasn't for you and my boyfriend's insistence to watch EVERY Shark's game there, I'd probably be much skinner. Now, that the players are cleaning out their lockers and fans are once again swimming in a sea of disappointment that is Bay Area sports, I'll still come back for your pizzas, beers on tap, and so-called wine list. Pizza-- delicious! somewhere between a thick crust and a really thick crust, it's always crunching on top and chewy in the middle. They always put enough sauce to compliment the cheese. I love the regular pepperoni at this place, but their combos are always great too. And if you plan not to make out with anyone for the next week, the Garlic Chicken is great, too. Chicken Wings and tenders-- I like the tenders, not the best I've had, but still good nevertheless. I think I just feel guilty eating them, so it never resonate with good memories. Beer-- they have Anchor Steam and Newcastle on tap, yay! Wine-- EH! I'm a wine snob, so my complaint here is not really reasonable for a beer and pizza place. The place is usually cracking when there is a big game on esp. during hockey season. There always seem to be enough space and chairs to fit everyone and arcade games for the little ones. Overall, great food, great place!

This place is packed most nights we've been. There always seems to be a good mix of families with kids (immediate post-little league game, etc.), young 30-somethings, and older guys at the bar watching sports and drinking beer. The food can be hit or miss, as some nights it's fantastic, and others it leaves a bit to be desired. The dinner salad is nearly flawless, though, as the ingredients are always fresh and taste as they should. Salads are the kind of thing that could easily get overlooked at a "burgers and beers" kind of joint like Jake's, so it's nice to see that they do 'em right. Parking can be scarce on really busy nights like Monday Night Football, etc., so come early for easy parking in the lot behind the building. Seating fills up, as well, but turnover has never been an issue - we've always found a place to accommodate our group. All in all, it's a good spot - I just can't go every week.

When I worked in Willow Glen, I would visit Jake's at least once a week. This was good for my taste buds, but was not so good for my waistline. Anyway, I highly suggest the Jake's Deluxe Burger. It's a small burger, but very big on taste. It comes with a very healthy (as in large) side of fries. It is one of my favorite burgers in the Bay Area. The pizza is delicious. My soccer team loves it. The BBQ chicken one is awesome. I have also had the chicken strips and the cheese fondue. Both were very good. My friends tell me the salads are good, but I don't come here for salads. Also, this location also offers a good sized bar, TV screens with the game of the day, and stellar service. Check it out. But yeah, be sure to work out after.

I am originally from Buffalo and every year we return to the Anchor Bar and Grill where Buffalo wings were created. Today was my first visit to Jake's and we ordered Buffalo wings expecting the usual California style wings. To our surprise, these wings were the BEST we have had in CA and the closest to the real thing. Amazingly good and authentic because they are crispy. Kudos to the chef! MP San Jose ca

I wanted to try this place out since Yelpers highly recommend it and I am a fan of Willow Glen. We decided to call in our pizza so it would be ready when we got there. I placed an order for a large pepperoni, linguica, salami pizza with tomatoes and onions. The total came out to $24.95...not bad. Before I ended the call I asked a stupid question..."Are you guys playing the sharks game?" (DUH why wouldn't they) So we get there around 7:30 and the place is cracking!!! Every table was occupied. We went ahead and paid for our pizza and got some beers. So we are waiting on the sidelines and then our disc vibrates, luckily we managed to find a table up in the way front with view of the game...we were just really close though. We had to bus our own table but I guess I can sympathize because it was busy. The pizza was overall really good, lots of good sauce (i love pizza sauce), the linguica was full of flavor, and the crust was crispy. I happily ate 4 slices of pizza (they were skinny slices :P) and watched the sharks kick some serious Edmonton butt. The only thing I have constructive to say is the crust is a little bit dense and lacks some flavor. I will definitely come back here to grab some beers and pizza and watch the sharks play, just will come earlier to avoid the rush!

Always casual, always quick and easy. We enjoy the turkey burgers on the onion bun. They come with a salad, but you can switch and get either fries or chips. There are five TV screens for viewing current sporting events.

Consistent food and reasonably priced. This is a good place to eat if you have a group with different tastes. You can order a pizza, grab a burger, enjoy a salad, or just drink a beer. The staff is friendly as well.

    (4)
  • Michael R.

The food and the staff are great! I crave the pizza whenever I'm in town. The pizzas have a generous amount of toppings that make a small pizza as filling as a large pizza from other outlets. The sandwiches are excellent with fresh ingredients. The parking may be bad on weekends and they are prone to close early on weeknights, so it's a good idea to call first to check on closing time. You can't go wrong with Jake's.

LOVE THIS PLACE Food is always good, beer always cold. Great for big groups. TV's play multiple games when it's that time of year. Parking can be a challenge but worth the search.

Their pizza is darn good here. I'm not one to indulge in pizza too often but had my fair share (and some) when we made our way in. You can order one of their signature pizzas or create your own. We went with the signature menu and had the Gilroy Garlic and Golden Greek. I, personally, preferred the Gilroy Garlic over the Greek - although both were satisfying. Just my palate speaking. You know what they say, you can't fight the palate *sigh* It's a total pizza parlor with booth seating, tv's with sports playing on each one and beer on tap. This is a great place to watch some sports while you get your grub and drink on. Stop in here when you find yourself in the Willow Glen area. There's parking out front and additional parking in the rear in case they get packed.

It's Monday and it's Hubby's night to pick where we are going for dinner. So, here we come, Jake's. We ordered a 10pc chicken wings for me plus the Sweet Potato Fries, Hubby was craving for the Fondue so he got that. Then, he added Jake's delux cheese burger, which he shouldn't have coz he admitted later that it was way too much food (I will remind him next time). What do we think of the Fondue? We used to come here for fondue if we are craving for a quick fondue fix. But after we discovered Chez Christina's fondue, we have been going there every time we yearned for Fondue. That's the problem with food, once you taste something better, you can't help but switch. What about Wings? I particularly like the classic sauce and I did ask for that. The only problem with these wings are just SALTY!!! To confirm that I didn't make that up or maybe my taste bug was off, I asked Hubby to have a taste and yes, he said it was salty as well. I hate to waste food so I was trying and trying to finish up the 10 pcs and after 5 pcs, I can't force myself to do it anymore. I gave Hubby one to confirm so there are 4pcs I have to leave behind. :-( I don't want to waste it, but I have to draw the line somewhere. Potato Fries? It's not something I would come and just get Potato Fries. It's edible, but I wouldn't come JUST to fetch that. Jake's Delux Cheese? Hubby finished it all and throw away the fries that comes with it. I didn't get a chance to taste it so I can't review it here. Would I come back? Definitely, but I wouldn't order Fondue or Chicken Wings, I would give other dishes a try because I believe the establishment must done something right to be in business for a long time. Maybe their secret is in the pizza? I will write and keep you all updated as I try out other dishes ... But first, I will need some time to erase this salty taste off of my head. Urgh!!! Can't seem to get that salty taste in my mouth even after I drink a big cup of water.

Four of us went to Jakes, three got sandwiches and one got pizza. Sandwiches were all so so (fries that came with were bomb) but the pizza was awesome so its order Dependant for sure. Good vibe, nice bar, good beer selection, I could definitely see going to catch a game there with a small group.

Wings, chili, and a bbq chicken pizza from here is all I need to make my day better. They have great food and the service is pretty fast. DON'T COME ON A SPORTS DAY BECAUSE ITS CRAZY BUSY. I highly recommend Jakes!!

3.5 stars but rounding down due to the super slow service for our take out order. Called in a Large 4+ Topping Pizza ($25.95) and the wait was about 30 minutes on a Saturday night around 6pm. The restaurant was full when we got there around 6:30pm, but there were still a few tables open. There were two lines at the cashier, and both were busy with customers. I was the next person in line but it took both cashiers almost 10 minutes to finish ringing up their customers and getting their sodas and/or beers. When I finally paid (which took all of 2 minutes), I had to walk to the brick window to pick up the pizza, which at least was still warm. The pizza itself was good, but not the best pizza I've ever had. The crust was thin at least, although I thought the pepperoni was a little too salty. I would think twice about coming back here for the pizza, especially with the slow service. They have their own parking lot, but it's not that big and it can be difficult to find parking on a busy weekend night.

For less than the $27 that I spent on a large combo pizza here, I could have gotten 4 medium 3-topping pizzas from Pizza Hut right up the street (online special - 2 for $12 - check it out)..... I like Pizza Hut, but wasn't in the mood for it, and I'd have to do more cardio than I wanna even think about if I got that much pizza, so I picked up a large Combo Pizza (4 1/2 stars) and a side of Fries (4 stars), and brought it home ($0.45 charge for pick-up orders). THIS! F***ING! PIZZA! It tasted like a Round Table combination pizza on steroids...with a crispy crust. Yea yea, the fries were good too, but f**k, writing about this review is making me drool on my keyboard! If they had a full bar and a salad bar, I'd be there at least once a week..... the drunk fatass in a food coma sitting in the corner and waking up every few minutes to force down another slice before passing out again yelp.com/biz_photos/jake… yelp.com/biz_photos/jake… yelp.com/biz_photos/jake…

Nice place to hangout, grab some pizzas & beers, & watch a game. The zucchini fries were pretty good. The chicken garlic pizza had a good crust but was just a bit too garlicky that the taste of the ranch & chicken were masked. Restaurant located in a nice area to walk around.

I'm not going to say I'm a huge fan of Jake's. But I'm going to say that they serve very filling pizza and if you request more sauce, it tastes a lot better. I love lots of sauce. They have a pretty extensive menu. Trying to find a table is somewhat of a challenge. Speaking of challenges, try finding a parking spot on a Friday night. What made this place a good time, was spending it with my friends.

The Gilroy special never disappoints and the beer is ice cold. What more could you want? Oh, less children running amok. That's not Jake's fault though. But it does contribute to us ordering takeout instead of eating in. We've eaten here several times and haven't ordered anything but the Gilroy, so I can't comment on any other menu items. But the beer selection is decent for a pizza joint. Service seems a little lacking and disorganized at times, and sometimes the staff doesn't seem super pumped, but to be fair, it's usually pretty swamped. I'd be grumpy too. Definitely worth checking out. If anything, to support a local business instead of a chain.

I am an aspiring vegan... My boyfriend gave up meat for lent and I LOVED IT... However, lent is over and he needed some MEAT. We decided on Jakes for pick up (and when I say WE I really mean he decided and I didn't want to be difficult and stop somewhere else). He ordered some meat lovers pizza with white sauce, and I ordered the Chinese chicken salad with no chicken. I LOVED my salad! It was delish! I think they threw in extra mandarin oranges to compensate the missing chicken. The food was fresh and light, I was very surprised how easy it was to order vegan food there! My salad would have been perfect if there was tofu! I was very pleased with how quick and convenient it was to order over the phone. When we got to Jakes everything was ready and the facility looked clean and organized. I will definitely go back!

I remember when his place was Babe's Pizza. I bet most of the current clientele didn't live in Willow Glen or wasn't born when it was still Babe's. Anyway. Since Jake's opened, my family has been coming here for pizza, fondue, beer and sports. Personally I'm not a fan of the pizza. The cheese fondue with apples and the grilled cheese are my go-to's. The food isn't great but the environment is fun. That's why we keep going back. Order at the counter (where the kitchen meets the bar) and they give you a buzzer. Then go pick up from the window. Greasy potato chips are the standard side for most entrees. I'd recommend switching for fries.

Great place to catch a game or to have a party such as a birthday, or a team get together, or even the end of the season party. Good for groups of people! They have a lot of seating but if you happen to go on the night of a big game be sure to get there early so you can get seats for everyone as they tend to get pretty crowded and it will be hard to find seating. They have a few TVs around the walls and then they have 2 big screens, 1 by the bar and the other across the room. When I go I usually order a pepperoni and sausage pizza with a bucket of buffalo wings. I don't have a problem with either of them as both the pizza and the wings are pretty good! I have had a burger there a few times and those are also pretty good. They also have healthy options such as salads, sandwiches, and veggie burgers. Good atmosphere with good friends and good food and good beer, can't go wrong with that combination!

Beers are cheap here! 5 something for 16oz 6 something for 22oz nice =) I don't like the philly cheesesteak ($8 + fries) here but i do love the pizza! Kind of pricey for the pizza, but well worth it if you feel like going out for fancy pizza instead of little caesars pizza. lol

Decent sports bar/pizza joint. Lots of TVs for you to watch your favorite Bay Area teams. I've met some dedicated local sports fans in this place. Case in point: while picking up a Gilroy Special one time, I hit the bar to enjoy a local IPA. I ended up getting a history lesson in San Jose State Football from a local. Jake's pizzas have a reasonably thin crust, although certainly not NY-Style crust. They are generous with toppings. Garlic aficionados will not be disappointed with the Gilroy Special. That said, my fave is the Golden Greek with its trademark red sauce. Wings are kind of meh - the usual Buffalo-wannabe fare you can find at countless other sports bars across the nation. Ditto for the sandwiches and burgers. Stick with the pizza and curly fries.

This review is for their BURGER. Willow Glen has recently become a burger capital, with 2 new places in the last month, and even more to come. My favorite is still Jakes, because: They don't flavor the meat with charcoal seasoning When you add bacon, it's always crispy, never flabby Garnishes are always fresh It is a normal size -- if you need more, make it a double Cheese can be Swiss or American(American is the default) It is a reasonable price, and comes with chips Of course Jakes offers a lot of other sandwiches, sides, and pizza. Everything I've had has been consistent high quality and good value. This is not a gourmet place catering to foodies. It is a sports- oriented informal family restaurant. Other reviewers are right about the parking, it is somewhat limited. They lose a star because no outdoor seating and not pet- friendly. But neither is Stumpys or Main Street. So if I have to leave the dogs home anyway, I'll choose Jakes.

Went here at 9 pm on a Sunday. Got the fried zucchini, garden salad and bucket of wings. The fried zucchini was a little more fried and battered than I was expecting; it was delicious, don't get me wrong, but it was a little much. I think I just ate poorly that weekend. Anyways, garden salad was pretty standard. Nothin special. Egg, lettuce tomato, balsamic dressing. The wings were bad. They deep fry the wings so much that all the moisture is gone out of the meat. The sauce was really good, but the meat just ruined it for me. Even the carrots and celery that came with the wings were dry. Very disappoint. So meh. Wow. The atmosphere was good. It was homey. Good family setting. Good selection of beers. Will be coming here again probably for a sandwich or pizza (since the place is called jakes pizza and sandwiches). Peace out, yelp.

I kept driving by but had never stopped in until a month ago. Now I have been three times. Comparing pizza to other pizza places, this place stands out if you like thin crunchy crust style pizza. The pizza is hot and the flavor is perfect. Just a little spice to the sauce makes the pizza have a unique taste. The service is good and there is plenty of seating for all. I would recommend as I would choose this place over most conventional pizza places. The sizes are large, so the traditional size medium is larger than you think.

The Good: Feels like family The Bad: Family isn't always welcome The Ugly: Literally I don't know you, why are you talking to me I went here last night and from the moment I stepped in I was apart of conversations around me. Literally I sat down and I realized I sat in the regulars section, meaning a lot of screaming and yelling took place around my table. At first it was comical, then annoying and then back to comical. It's not a bad thing. That is not why Jake's received two stars. Oh no. They received 2 stars because of the pizza. The pizza that was lacking in so many ways. Yes it was hot- props for that, but the quality and taste was just not there. The pineapple was bland, the jalapenos were soggy, the crust had zero flavor. Actually the pizza literally was flavorless. If I had a blindfold on I don't know if I could guess what I was eating. That is a problem. Also their ranch is really nasty.. takes on a life of its own with the jiggle. Is ranch really supposed to jiggle? So... will I go back? I don't think so. There are a lot of other pizza places that I enjoy, so I think this one might be scratched off the list.

We came here ordered fried zucchini and a chicken garlic pizza without red bell peppers but with red onions. The zucchinis were in the shape of fries. It was crispy and not greasy. Would taste plain if there was no dipping sauce. The pizza was delicious. Very filling. I like that the crust was crispy. When I picked up a slice it can still hold up without bending. Garlic cream sauce is nice and garlicky

I've only been here twice, but those 2 times are all it takes for me to want to keep coming back here. The roomie and I wanted a change of scene from the usual pizzerias that we frequent. Since gourmet pizza was what we were craving, I remembered coming here once and loving the combo pizza the ex and I ordered. This time around the roomie and I ordered a small half Gilroy Garlic and half Chicken Supreme pizza. OHHH MYYY GOODNESS! This heavenly combination was the perfect creation of garlicky, creamy, cheesy goodness ever! From the crust to the fresh toppings and everything in between, our customized pie satisfied our pizza fiending. Overall, great service, beer selections, and pizza! I'll definitely be back to try out the rest of the items on their menu and even catch a game on their huge TVs.

I gave Jake's pizza 5 stars for these reasons: - I ordered the veggie pizza they use the most fresh ingredients. The tomatoes are not soggy. They were crisp and perfect. - My boyfriend ordered sausage and bacon pizza and the bacon were cooked perfectly and they actually put lots of bacon!!! - the service is great for a place that it's not a full service restaurant. I will definitely keep come back!!!

I came here to meet Jake, from All State, and I pointed him out because he was wearing khakis. The pizza was ok but the waiter suggested we split a small pie and it wasn't enough. We hit up the Dairy Queen down the street and called it a night because he had other insurance calls to attend to.

Not too happening on a game night and still could not hear the game.. Salad was wilted and some parts of it brown. Wrap was not fresh grilled chicken. Pizza had no sauce. The little one's meal came with potato chips thrown on the side where as most places would place a small sealed bag on the side. Best thing about the meal was the cherry tomatoes. One hit wonder, and wonder no more:(

Went there recently for the first time and was a little disappointed. Pizza is hard and tasteless and the cheese was gross. The only thing that had flavor was the ham and pepperoni. I'll stick to Tony Dimaggios for excellent pizza and pasta.

Passed by this place a few times. Didn't know what to think of it because it didn't look like a great restaurant. Since Bill's Cafe was busy, we decided to go here. It was actually a really good decision. When you walk in, you have to sit yourself. That was one thing I wasn't used to. It is one of those order and pay places, then sit down and eat when they page you. When we went, there was a long wait - about 25 minutes. I was starving so I didn't appreciate that. I ordered the NY steak sandwich and fries. My fiance ordered the buffalo wings and curly fries. The sandwich was super good. The steak was thin, but the french roll - OH MY GOSH it was so good! It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! It complemented the meat so nicely! I loved it! Great portion size too! I like the plain fries better than the curly fries. The curly fries are advertised as "spicy". They weren't. Tastes as good as Jack In the Box fries. And honestly, the Buffalo wings were the best I've ever tried. It wasn't because of the buffalo sauce. It was more because of how nicely the wings were cooked. They weren't completely fried to the point where the meat was stringy and tough. It was easy to bite it off the bone. Tender and well cooked. I like!!

Good pizza.. Maybe not great, but definitely good. Tons of topping opportunities to satisfy whatever cravings you may have. Gilroy Garlic looks and sounds fabulous, will definitely try that next time...And yes, there will be a next time! We had a bucket of wings as well, which were pretty disappointing. They tasted almost exactly like KFC honey BBQ wings, which I did not like. Texture was off, sauce was off, and the wings might actually be smaller than BWW. Total letdown. Last but not least, we also had a chop salad. Was hoping for lots of meat, instead got small pieces of meat, lots of fresh from a bag cheese, and lots and lots of lettuce. Everything tasted fairly fresh, which was good, and none of the lettuce was browned or bland, which was also good. Dressing was good too, albeit unforgettable. Biggest pluses for this place are delivery (they included everything I needed), atmosphere at the place, tons of selection (huge menu!) and overall pretty decent food. Not really high quality, but I assume for the price its better than your other choices on Lincoln, and it definitely wasn't bad. We'll be back.

Came on President's day for lunch. Person taking my order was courteous. I ordered the Gilroy special and hot buffalo wings. The toppings on the pizza was plentiful with a lot of flavors. They are not stingy on the ingredients. Buffalo wings were cooked perfectly and I like dipping them in ranch sauce. You really do get a lot for your money's worth. I'm already craving it again. Will definitely come again.

I ordered a grilled cheese with ham. I've ordered this from the jakes in Saratoga, and the Garrett, never had an issue. Ordered it at this jakes and it came with mayo mustard lettuce and tomato. Never in my life have I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and it came with all that. Ruined my sandwich so I'm just trying to save someone else a disappointing lunch. If you order grilled cheese make sure you ask for it plain the way it's supposed to come. Annoyed.

(+) - the veggie pizza, large ~$28 (-) - pricey - parking Placed a pickup order here saturday for dinner. Got lucky and snagged a space in the small inefficiently built parking lot nearby. I'm not a huge pizza fanatic but their veggie pizza was amazing! I loved the texture of the bread and the toppings were very fresh (loved the artichoke which I've never tried as a pizza topping). I typically dislike olives and this came with a TON, surprisingly I didn't mind them since the combo of ingredients all together tasted so delicious. If you have some handy, I'd highly recommend adding La Vic's orange sauce on top, SO. GOOD. We got a large which total came out to be about $28, definitely pricey in my opinion but you get fresh ingredients and great taste. I was full after two slices and food coma full after 3. Definitely a place to check out in willow glen, I'll be back!

I came here for the first time to watch Monday Night Football with my roommate. I think this is a great place . I think this place is a great place to watch games and hang with friends. Although this place is a great venue for sports and hanging, the food is just about average. My roommate and I got the the fried ravioli which was great, and the wings which were OK. Then we ordered a sausage and pepperoni pizza which I will give a 2 out of 5 stars. From the reviews I read I expected much more from the pizza, but it was not that good at all.

This place has cool old-school pizza joint charm. Although I've never actually eaten in, but it seems like a good place to watch sports and drink beer with friends. I always have gotten a pizza to go. I love their Gilroy special! Loaded with garlic, and other goodies. It's a bit pricey but who cares if it's only once in awhile. Hasn't disappointed yet!

It's a place I go to when I crave greasy food but don't know what to get. The menu is pretty large and covers items from chicken wings to pizza to to burgers to quesadilla to salad to sandwiches to fondue. There is never a time that I just couldn't find anything to eat from the menu. The food is decently priced and very delicious - I mean, it's the kind of comfort food that just hits the spot. Their cheese quesadilla is huge, filled with gooey, melted cheese. But their chicken philly cheese steak is the bomb! The chicken wings are great, too, with the right amount of sauce that delivers the tangy, spiciness embedded in the tender meat. The only thing I would really skip would be the fondue... the cheese is never melty enough and the bread is not that great... The staff has always been very friendly and nice. Service is quick and they put up with a lot on game nights. Speaking of game nights, several big screen TVs and a fully stocked bar makes Jake's a great place to hang out and watch me a Sharks game! And the location is fantastic, located in Willow Glen, it is literally steps away from Goosetown for some post-party partying!

Pretty cool spot to hang out and drink until midnight with your friends. My friends and I walked here after having swirls at Aqui. You can split a pizza or order a bunch of small appetizers to share. I tried just the regular cheese pizza, onion rings, sweet potato fries, and cheese quesdilla. I think the onion rings were the best ha. I was more concerned about drinking my blue moon anyways. Also, there's an arcade room so you can win small prizes from the claw. My friend won me a hippy pinky ring, and super tiny handcuffs. Literally, the handoffs are made for Barbies wrists ha there freaking small. But my friends got plastic bullet necklaces and gun necklaces which is pretty awesome.

Finally tried a pie from this place.. kinda wish they had closed early because it's nothing to write home about. Not sure if the crust is premade or what but it seems like it might be.

I ate here with some Yelpers after the DYC at Second Harvest Food Bank and we were all hungry. Ironically, I ate no pizza. It's the lactard in me. I did pick off a few toppings and I enjoyed that a lot. They have a pretty big menu for being a pizza joint. I went with a half sandwich and soup combo. For those who are new to Jake's, 2 things to keep in mind: 1. They don't really have servers so you get in line and pay, you get a beeper and you pick up your own food at 2 different counters. 2. They have refills on soda, but you have to get up and go to the counter and ask for a refill. Best part is sitting around for a while and watching all the different people come in. Homeless people that smell like cat urine, tall cowgirls, little Catholic schoolgirls who swear, SJPD.

I love the pizza here - the place is CLASSIC. Tonight we are getting the GILROY SPECIAL and the CHICKEN BBQ with a couple buckets of hot wings. (I think the chickens came from Gold's Gym because they are friggin' huge!) The Gilroy special is one of my favorites - I also like the Greek Pizza. My friends like the sweetness in the Chicken BBQ. It is easier to go with a group of folks so you can get a lot of different dishes and try everything. It really is all good. They have sandwiches here too - and onion rings. I never had the sandwiches but hear they are good - a friend ordered the onion rings once and I accidentally ate most of them =D

I let my Daughter pick out the type of food or cuisine.. she picked pizza so I scrolled through my hundreds of bookmarks and landed on Jake's. I picked this place because of 2 reasons: the location and because Kick's Ice Cream was nearby. How do you know I am a fatty? Well because I even planned for dessert and potential upcoming meals before arriving. Yes, my eye is WAY bigger than my stomach. This place is great for watching sports while enjoying pizzas, burgers, sandwiches.. finger foods (chicken tenders, fries, onion rings) and if you are into beer and wine- this place has them too! Of course like w/ everything else, come early if you are here mainly to watch a game. The parking isn't bad but since this spot is next to Kragen.. it can be a hassle but there's plenty of street parking which is where I parked... a few feet away from the front door.. not bad! There is a paper menu that you can look at or a gigantic billboard type of menu. I was having a hard time deciding because I wanted to order "the everything" but I knew that I shouldn't, not that I wouldn't but my ass would gain 100lbs instantly if I were to eat like there's no tomorrow and the sad thing is.. my stomach is large enough to store all of that. Pizzas.. sandwiches.. burgers,, salads.. soups.. side dishes.. My Daughter wanted ham and pineapple so I got her a personal pizza.. I got the Gilroy Special: fresh tomatoes, Italian sausage, peperoni, mushrooms, garlic, green onions, chives over ranch.. what I should have ordered, personal size but my fat ass ordered the small. Why? Oh why did I do that? I also ordered a side of fries and a side of onion rings. And of course a large diet soda.. after paying a pager was given to me and the guy at the cash register was nice and seemed to be surprised that I ordered THAT much food for just me, myself, and I- oh and my petite Daughter as well, haha. The sides were called out first.. the pepper, cheese, ketchup, mustard, and other spicy condiments were readily available throughout this place so my Daughter enjoyed her fries w/ ketchup and I enjoyed my rings w/ a combination of ketchup and mustard. The fries were average, the rings were crispy, not too greasy, and was devoured very quickly because it was so good. When the moment came when our pizzas were called.. the personal pizza was big enough to be shared by 2.. the pizza was loaded w/ cheese, pineapple, and ham.. very appealing and very good!! My Gilroy Special was like heaven although I will ask for more ranch next time... EVERYTHING.. EVERY SINGLE TOPPING on the pizza incorporated well together and I think I ate like 5 slices.. yeah, total fatty status for sure. They are lucky I didn't ask for a side of ranch to dip my pizza in, I will remember to do that next time. I forgot to mention that the crust is thin, not the same consistency as NY-style though.. slight burnt at the ends.. After realizing I shouldn't eat more than I already have, I went up to ask for boxes.. I also cleared the table and put the condiments back.. you technically don't have to because the staff circles the restaurant to make sure things are clean and orderly for the next diner but I did my part and actually enjoy cleaning.. Another visit? Oh hell-yes. Thank goodness we both did not have any room for dessert yet still I drove by Kick's Ice Cream w/ a little frown on my face...

1/31/15: Firstly, I only had pizza here and they have lots of other stuff on their menu like burgers and stuff, so my rating is solely based on their pizza. Basic summary: their pizza has crappy crust but relatively high-quality ingredients. So, they kinda average out... This was my friend's treat for me and other friends, for helping him move for the day, so he paid and I dunno what the price was. Also, they have specific combo names and apparently are very anal about what is called what (the guy on the phone made lots of corrections to my friend's general descriptions.) So the names given here might not match what is actually on the menu, but are basically what those flavors are normally called: 1. Hawaiian: Very basic. Pineapple and ham. As noted above the crust was very dry and the outside was hard. Basically tasted like what an amateur might make on their first attempt of making pizza at home, from scratch, and didn't have a proper pizza stone. As another reviewer noted, the crust tastes bland too. Anyway, ingredients aren't particularly special on this one unlike the others, so below average: 4/10. 2. Vegetarian: Tons of high quality ingredients on this one! Nice fresh tomato, big chunky artichokes, tons of good mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, tons of olives--basically the whole section of Safeway fresh produce dumped on a pizza. Unfortunately, again, the crust sucked hard. And though there was a whole garden on a pizza, it didn't taste all that great that way. But sure felt healthy. 4/10. 3. "Supreme" (that's definitely not what they called it though): It's kinda 1/2 the veggies from the Vegetarian but then mixed with meat. I see ham, peperoni, sausage, and not sure if there's anything else. Tastier than the vegetarian, but again, the crust kills it, and otherwise it's kinda standard. 5/10. So, .... if you come here, don't get the pizza. But it's a good place to hang out it seems--lots of seating and space. Just get plenty of beer to laugh over. I probably wouldn't come back, but I can see some people enjoying the laid-back atmosphere. Conflicted here... I really didn't like the pizza that much, but the ingredients certainly were better than say, Pizza Hut's (though Pizza Hut's crust is FAR better, and tastes better overall anyway). But... definitely not as good as Papa John's...... aw heck... guess below average is fair (hopefully their burgers are better)... 2/5. #pizza

I got the personal pizza with two toppings. I thought it was very good. The crust was a little on the bland side but it was crispy. They loaded the toppings. Rick got the cheeseburger and chips. He loved the burger. Plus they had the Giants game on. ;) If we are ever in the area again, we know where to stop.

Excellent, straightforward pizza.. Ask for extra sauce, as the dough is thick and a bit bland, IMO. Open late which is a HUGE plus in my book.

Jake's and the Garret are the same pizza. Both really good. Beer on tap and there is something old school slightly ,well a lot ,blue collar about Jake's and The Garret. Kinda dark just the way you love old school bars/pizza pub and lively friendly crowd and employees. It really is the Willow Glen version of the Garret and a reminder of Willow Glen circa 1980 or so.A cool blue-jeans kind of noisy dark "locals" kind of pizza pub we all love!

We had a big group and so we all ordered different items on the menu so we got to try a little of everything. All I have to say is everything was delicious! Can't go wrong with this place. Can't wait to go back again on my next visit to San Jose.

In love with their big portion, crispy and juicy onion rings!!! Price is super nice too! Their onion rings and chicken wings are our top choice whenever we have friends over. I'm not a big fan of pizza but apparently the pizza is really good according to my pizza-loving boyfriend. Great place for just chilling with friends. Everybody is super friendly!

Pizza here is delicious! Probably my favorite in the area and I tend to be picky since I am from Chicago. The crust is nice and crunchy, the sauce is tasty and the toppings are plentiful. The wings are also very good. This place is open late also.

Best pizza so far! This is my go to place for pizza. I have been here several times and every time has been an ENJOYABLE FEAST! Setting: Very chill setting. Can get packed on certain nights but overall, I have not had an issue finding a table. They have TV's and has a sports theme thru out the area. Overall great ambiance. Parking can get a little crazy because it's right next to Puerto Azul but there is street parking if you get lucky. Great staff also. Menu: Great choices. I would consider this place to be a true classic pizzeria. Something about the ambiance and look of it. I have only ordered the pizza, wings and ravioli but I want to try more now after tasting the ravioli. The ravioli were deep fried stuffed with ricotta cheese! # bomb.com Food: Overall great taste. Pizza sauce is not overwhelming, just the right amount of sauce. They put a lot of toppings on the pizza too. The wings are also good. The few times that I have been there and ordered the wings, I have gotten ALL legs. For wing lovers, thats #heaven. They also have several beers on tap. The size of the pizza is also great for groups. Between four people we killed a large pizza but the last ~5 slices were difficult to eat lol. I would recommend everybody to try this place out.

I absolutely love the pizza here! My friend and I always end up ordering a pepperoni pizza, wings, fries, and a pitcher of beer. Perfect for two:). I try to make it out here anytime I'm in the area, it's delicious, and the atmosphere is very laid back.

I had a gathering of about 30 people following an event at SAP Center. The restaurant has a nice layout and I like how you can order food up front. I enjoyed the food and the overall atmosphere. The only negative is the limited amount of parking. I would definitely recommend this place if you are meeting up with a large group of people.

I just want to say how incredibly impressed and blown away I am with this restaurant! I happened to be passing by willow Glen area and saw this place to the right of me. So me and my husband decided to try this place (I am actually still here right now)... We walked in and you basically seat yourself and order at the front. We ordered a Medium Pepperoni and half Pepperoni and Mushroom *which is what I like* & a side order of French Fries which were OMG. Can we take a minute to appreciate a Pizza Joint that can make the BEST fries ever? They were cut perfectly, they seem to be fresh and like they're made here by them, they were just the best. You must try them to know what I am saying. The pizza itself was remarkable. The crust was crunchy but not overly crunchy, it was a perfect size (not too thin or thick), the Pepperoni wasn't salty or oily, the cheese was perfectly melted and the pizza did not taste like it was tomatoey or doughy it tasted and reminded me of Shakeys Pizza that was my favorite childhood pizza place that no longer exists in San Jose area. My god I haven't had pizza so good, I will definitely be returning for pizza! The visit overall was nice, the parking situation sucks, there's hardly any...but we managed. The restrooms are spotless and I feel like I can trust their restroom, it's clean and modern. The decor and the environment is nice. It's chill, hardly any people, they had the AC on too, was real hot outside but this is a great place for outstanding pizza, beer and fun to watch sports on their big TV! I wish I could give this place 100 stars. :)

5 stars for the GILROY SPECIAL!! This is all I want to eat when I come here. I came here with co-worker for lunch and we ordered 2 or three pizzas, but this is the most memorable.=) Yum... Also, their fries are very good with bbq sauce on the side. I had a BLT as well. I think it was good...I really can only remember the Gilroy Special. MmmmMm..

Good Pizza with Good Friends. What more can you ask for. Went recently when my friend was in town. we had a large pizza and a bucket of Chicken wings that we absolutely could not finish and I don't hang out with people that can't eat. The pizza was good as were the wings. A great neighborhood pizza joint to hang out watch a game and talk story.

Boyfriend was craving pizza so we turned to Yelp to find something good nearby. We checked out their menu online and thought the Gilroy Special was just what we were in the mood for. So we headed over to Jake's to give it a try. We found a winner! Our pizza was loaded with delicious toppings and ingredients we could tell were super fresh. The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I can't wait to come back here and try the rest of their menu. Everything looks really good. The restaurant is pretty roomy, good for groups, and families. They also have lots of TVs which is great for the sports fans. Prices are reasonable and the service is quick.

Fridays = Beer and Wings (I am THAT kind of a girl.) I lived for my Friday night to be spent at Jake's consuming hot, fiery wings and washing it down with an ice cold beer. Oh my goodness, just thinking about it makes me want to reenact Meg Ryan's orgasm scene from "When Harry Met Sally". I am sure I showed my "O" face one too many times here. Hot damn- hot damn- hot damn! So when I collected myself because this is a family joint. I gladly consumed salads and of course the pizza. All were delicious and filling. And left me with that warm glow of 'I just had something really good and I know you want some of it too' goodness. Currently looking for someone to spoon in the afterglow of the memory.

I have been wanting to try Jake's for years. I've driven by it a million times and just never went in. Tonight we went in! If you are a fan of The Garret in Campbell, you will like Jake's. It's got very similar decor and TV's for great sports watching. We watched the end of the Boston Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Devil Rays. It was a tie game right up til the bottom of the 9th.....then Tampa Bay scroed and it was all over. BOO! Ah well....back to my review.... It's a family friendly place. Lot's of choices.......sandwiches, burgers, even cheese fondue and don't foget the pizza. This is good pizza, not New York style but good none the less. It's a thicker crust. My daughter loves pizza and she is a purest. Most of the time it's plain cheese for her. I will eat anything but I do love a good combination. Tonight we went for something different......1/2 cheese with black olives and 1/2 garlic chicken supreme. YUM!! My DD loved her pizza! I loved mine too....a nice white sause, chicken, mushrooms, red peppers and lots of garlic. No vampire will come near me for a few days at least! It was a nice change of pace. The crust was crispy on the bottom, even golden brown on the top. Delish!! They have a nice bar and lots of beer on tap. This would be a place you could easliy go by yourself to have a cold one and watch a game. I'm sure we will be back once hockey season starts. GO SHARKS!!!!

Great atmosphere to hang out with your friends. All of the food is delicious and satisfying. The pizza is great. Burgers are good. Any of the fried items are also tasty. i have recently tried this pace with a few fellow friends and ordered the Gilroy special and a bucket of hot wings. First off the pizza was decent the crust was exceptional and the toppings were great but what kind of swayed my vote was that it was ridiculously greasy. i know i know its a pizza what am i suppose to expect? but there was literaly a little pond of grease just pooling on the pan. Secondly the wings, they are great until i reached the end where the wings were submersed under the hot wing sauce.

If you have never been to this strip mallish place in Willow Glen then you might not understand when I say that it is like a bizarre Twlight Zone gathering of people. You have Jake's, Puerto Azul Mexican food, Goosetown and Kragen's.....so in true Kragen parking lot fashion we parked our bikes and were viciously barked at by a bad ass pit bull in a ghetto ass delapidated mini van - probably just guarding the dope in the baby seat. Anyhewww, it was my suggestion to come here - I am bored with the usual, Aquis, Willow Street, Pizza My Heart combo.....and I am glad I did. But seriously, Im a tard for never coming here before. As a member of the damn proud to live in Willow Glen cougar in training program, you think I would have been here before..... And, if I had read the reviews prior I would not have said (upon walking in the door) "This place reminds me of The Garrett in Campbell." Double tardism. Was I so impressed with the chefs salad I was doing backflips? No. Was it a shitload of meat and cheese and creamy Italian dressing? Yes. Were the chicken strips tasty and not greasy? yesmmmm. Oh and was the Fat Tire one of the largest beers I have wrapped my paws around, ever? Hell Yes! The best part? A small bar with beer and wine and TV's for all the good sports - oh and a dude driving into the lot with a slammed Pontiac GrandAm with spinner rims he just picked up next door. What more could a little Kitty ask for?

Other than my family, the SJ Sharks, and some friends, Jake's of Willow Glen (also Jake's of Saratoga, The Garret, The Boardwalk and Jake's of Sunnyvale) is a place I really miss since my move to WA. Since my college days at SJSU, I always went here. When I go visit family in SJ, I make sure to eat here. The food is always good and fills you up. I would recommend skipping the pizza and getting the Jakes Deluxe or my favorite the Philly Cheese Steak (I sub in the chicken). Both come with a boat load of big fries and the taste is just right. The pizza is a good alternative if you are in a group. Perfect place to grab a pitcher of beer and watch some sports. I don't ever remember having a dull moment at Jake's. Seating can be tough if you come during a peak time. I recommend eating here if you want good food and a casual atmosphere.

The pizza here is great! We usually get the pepperoni and jalapeno pizza or the Gilroy Special. A small (that looks like a medium at most places) will cost you about $15...and way worth it. The crust is nice and crispy with loads of toppings/cheese. We also get the small chef's salad for about $5, which is a steal. They load up their salad with lots of greens and chunks of turkey and ham with shredded cheese. I end up sharing a small and I'm still satisfied. I've also tasted their spicy buffalo wings and their cheeseburger....which also ranks up there. This Willow Glen restaurant/sportsbar is one of my favorite eating destinations, especially since they close pretty late everyday. They have some of my favorite beers on tap and also big screens for me to watch different sports. Whether I'm there with my teammates or with family, I always enjoy the neighborly atmosphere that radiates from Jake's.

My boyfriend has been trying to get me to come here forever so since I had this whole week off from work, today we decided to have a day in WG and go here for lunch. The place was cool inside and you can tell it was a local favorite as people were already coming in a steady stream only 20 mins after they opened. I had a grilled cheese and he ordered the mini pizza with pepperoni and we split a side of fries. They were both just ok. He said the pizza was on the crunch side, while he prefers more soft pizza. He said Papa John's was better. My grilled cheese was pretty bland. I don't think I've ever had such a flavorless GC, but it was edible and hot and the cheese was nicely melted. The fries were hot and came unsalted which was fine. The basket was pretty big too and we didn't finish them. Actually we didn't finish anything. If it had more flavor I could've finished the sandwhich, but once my stomach was satisfied we stopped cause it was just ok. For $18 it wasn't too bad. We will come back again but try something different.

The pizza here is excellent! From the golden bottom crisp crust to the sauce, cheese, toppings...I love it all! One of their specialty pizzas is a favorite of mine: The Gilroy Special. The sauce they use for this pie is Ranch and topped with garlic, chives, green onion, pepperoni, Italian Sausage, mushrooms, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella and Monterey jack cheese. In the mood for a sandwich? Well, their burgers are really good. I love their Philly Cheesesteaks and French Dip Sandwiches. Buffalo wings (mild or hot) are on the menu and they are pretty darn good. Their fries and onion rings are good and their salads are exceptional! I tried a small Chef's salad tonight and I was impressed...and I don't impress easily! In this small salad that seemed to feed enough for 2 or three people, they had bits of ham and turkey along with a little mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the top. It really made this salad pop! I'm not much of a salad person either! The prices here are just right. You'll notice that their small pizzas are really medium, mediums are large, etc. Just for comparison, you can get a small combination pizza for about $14 and you can get a Philly Cheesesteak with fries for almost $8. I have been going to Jakes for years. They have friendly staff and the customer service is good. The atmosphere is a sports bar feel; a good place to watch the Sharks games or other sporting events on the big screen and going to the bar to have a pitcher or two of Hefe' on tap with the guys while you inhale a pizza. It could get crowded at times with the families and their children running around, which means the wait may be a little long, but trust me, the wait is well worth it! The parking situation is very limited to a small parking lot and parking along the street, but I've always managed to find parking.

I am giving this place a 5 star because we've been here for years and they always deliver. I've tried from their specialty's to making my own pizza, YUM! The hot wings are awesome and, even though I don't like bleu cheese, this one is goooood. We usually stick to getting the Hawaiian, pepperoni and hot wings and the kids love this place too. The pizzas are also made a little bigger. I read other reviews about the pizza being greasy, we have never had that issue. We'll come here over and over again.

    (5)
  • Jill T.

Jakes is solid! The pizza is good, crisp crust. The chicken wings are spicy and nice, could be a little crunchier but overall a win. The seating inside is always crowded and noisy and they don't keep it so clean, but it's busy and they are probably a little understaffed. Great for take out! Good place to watch games and sporting events.

Jake's is just OK. It maybe what I ordered on my first ever visit. The daily special was just OK. Half sandwich with your choice of either salad or soup. I would not recommend ordered the daily lunch special. I may give it another chance in the future.

This pizza is great. We got the BBQ pizza. I love how the pizza crust is slightly crispy. This pizza was savory. They stay open real late so if you want a good place for a late night snack and beer. This is the place to be.

Pizza was good the first time i dined...second time the cheese tasted gross and pizza was just all around not great. Crowd is predominately white angry middle aged men who like to escape there home life by coming to Jakes and having a beer...or two...or three. Sweet TV screens

Oh, the yummy pizza!!! I love this place!! I have lived in Willow Glen and only recently started dining here since my hubby loves the place!! Cheese fondue is fun and adds a little something to a normal pizza night!! There Philly cheese steaks are to die for. I am super picky about the meat they use for the Philly Cheese steak and they get it right!!! Great for kids, or without....we dont have kids yet, but go with friends and this place is perfect!!!

Best chicken Philly ever!!! Pizza crust is so delicious. Never disappoints, love this place.

We went to Jake's because of the menu they have at the other bay area locations- the Garrett in Campbell and the Oasis beer garden in Menlo Park. The food is great, I like the Pizza- but the burgers are outstanding as well. I hadn't tried the wings, so I decided to go for it during this visit- I was not disappointed, I thought they were fantastic and they were a nice compliment to my Salami, black Olive, Mushroom pizza...

This is the kind of pizza joint you went to growing up - loud, a bit divey, kids all over the place, sports playing on the TV, video games in the corner. None of that woodfired pizza here - old school yummy pizza here. Great place to watch a game and enjoy pizza and beer. Good selection of beers on tap, if you are a wine snob this ain't your place. They also deliver in Willow Glen!

  • Nancy M.

I like coming to Jakes on a slow night to watch the hockey game. The food is pretty good. I always like the pizzas because they have some mass to them. The Philly is also pretty good. The only problem I had there was that the parm shaker had moldy cheese. ew. OH! And they are open late which is another plus!

Great spot to eat a delicious pizza and curly fries while watching a Giants or Sharks game on TV. Sometimes during Little League season, there will be a large party with lots of annoying kids running around, but if you sit far away from them, you'll be ok.

We had takeout pizza from here and it was actually not good at all. I heard so many great things about this place. I will definitely have to stop in and see if eating in makes a difference.

Defintiely a cool little sports bar type restaurant. It is a great place to catch sporting events on the big screen and have a great pizza - especially their combo! their wings are delicious too... top it off with a pitcher of beer and I'm good to go.

i'll go 5 stars! environment is excellent, nice family place, inviting too, nice help etc. pizza is good, but kinda like all the other's -- remember that recipe is crucial for a good pie.

i've been a big big big fan of the garrett in campbell, so when i moved to willow glen and found out that jake's pizza is related i knew i was in trouble....mr wallet's gonna be slimming down and mr tum tum is going to fatten up. my buddies and i keep it simple when ever we come here....pizza, bucket of wings, and beer. man food. the pizza has a science to it...it's goes something like dough, sauce, layer 1 of toppings, cheese, layer 2 of toppings, more cheese. they don't skimp on the toppings either...and they go to the very edge...no wasted crust here. the sandwhiches and salads are pretty good too. but i like sticking with the norm.

I've been going to the one in Saratoga for years! Love the pizza, good amount of toppings and the crust is tasty. I usually get extra cheese, extra pepperioni...yum yum!

I'm giving this place a 3 because I thought the pizza was good, and I don't like pizza. The crust was very crispy which I enjoyed, and the toppings were pretty good too. I got the buffalo wings, and was very disappointed - the hot was not very hot, but more tangy and salty than it was spicy. The chicken tenders were not bad either. The place was definitely crowded tonight, and when we got there, we had to hover over some people when we saw them starting to leave so that we could grab their table. Service was not that great - we ordered 3 pizzas, but somehow only two were made/ordered. The service was not that great - I realize it's self service, but when you ask for something (like peppers or hot sauce that aren't at your table), you shouldn't be told that they are already at your table. I'd probably go back if I'm craving pizza which is very rare, but I didn't enjoy the atomosphere too much and was disappointed in the sour and not spicy buffalo wings.

jake's, much like the garrett, is awesome. the cheese fondue is the way to go. the pizza is good also although they go a bit heavy on the cheese. not a ton of seating though but it is usually not an issue. the arcade is a good babysitter for the young ones as well.

This restaurant is essentially the same as the Garret in Campbell, except the bar and the dining area are smaller. My review for the Garret can pretty much be applied to this restaurant.

Has a wonderful Steak sandwich , I always leave satisfied and would recommend giving it a try!!

  • Joel D.

I was very disappointed in the pizza. It is very bland and the sauce is nearly tasteless. The wings are slightly better than average, but for the price the food should taste better. I hope the rest of the menu is better, but I don't think I can bring myself to go back.

  • Carrie S.

Great place to watch a football or baseball game, or just any sports game in general. There's a pretty good selection of what you want to eat, especially pizza. You don't have a server, you just order on the counter and get a beeper once the food is ready. Ordered buffalo wings and pizza. I would definitely come here again.

  • Kenny C.

i like the buffalo chicken hot sandwich ..... its like the only thing i eat there

  • Nicole S.

Jake's buffalo wings are by far the best! They have the right amount of spicy and they are crispy. I love them. My favorite pizza is the monterey garlic pizza. I also have had their chicken philly sandwich and is was very good. The french fries are also yummy... I want to try the cheese fondue next. Everything i have had her so far has been YUMMY!

Went here for the first time a few weeks ago and had the golden greek. I love pepperocini, so it was an easy sell. The combination of feta and mozzarella cheese was great. Standard pizza shop ambiance, which I really like, and a decent selection of beer. Good standard pizza kind of pizza. Pretty good value... loved it.

The cold Fat Tire on tap kept me here longer than expected. Recently, my buddy and I watched a game here. We had good buffalo wings, pizza, and salad. This place is well kept and clean. Staff is friendly. If they upgraded the TV's, this would make an even better place.

Night out with the guys. Don't we just love those nights? We always talk about the past in those college days because life is boring now and we're a bunch of losers. Gone are the days of downing a 12 pack, going to bed at 1 a.m., and waking up @ 10 a.m. and starting to party all over again. But nonetheless, us men came to Jakes to relive those memories and impart on new ones Beer 1 - Talking about Baday toilets, pros/cons Beer 2 - Remember when you drank Red Bull Vodka, thought you were Superman and could clear that 6 foot high bush? Beer 3 - If we did Mardi Gras we'd be the creepy old guys now Beer 4 - That mom with the kid looks hot Beer 5 - Yes sleeping on the dashboard of the motor home during Spring Break really sucked. Beer 6 - That mom with the kid still looks hot Beer 7 - That was really f-ed up when you guys chiefed my entire face. It took me a week to get that shit off of my eyelids and the inside of my ear! Beer 8 - Hey bro, do you think a cop could smell the alcohol on my breath right now?? Yeah that's what I thought. I'm totally sober! Beer is pretty good here. I especially like the warm glasses it came in.... [For the members of MADD, I did not drive home]

Gotta love this place! It's a great place to have pizza and beer and other goodies. I'm pretty picky about pizza and they have the pizza just right - crispy crust, enough tomato sauce and enough cheese, not soggy at all. We also ordered the cheese fondue which was a unique option at a sports bar. Great atmosphere if you are a sports junkie.

  • Karin P.

I was turned onto this place by my boyfriend. It is so tasty and the people are friendly. Great atmosphere and it's a ton of fun to watch a game while eating a great pizza, yummy hot wings, or even a chicken sandwich. Everything we've tried here has been good! I recommend this place highly!

  • Geoffrey W.

Just plain great. Had one problem where they didn't remove the onions, but all other times our food has always been great. In-fact you ask to sub something and they do it happily. The owner has always been happy to have us in his establishment. This is a warm old fashioned (OK back to the eighties IMO) pizza joint with sports on the TV specialty pizzas sandwiches and good wings and beer. Parking is sometimes an issue but walking in Willow Glen is always nice. There is a saying... you get what you pay for.

Thank you Jakes! working at a salon can make it tough to find the time for a bite to eat. The fabulous people at Jakes are so wonderful and take such good care of us over at diModa Salon (a few doors down). they always get our order right, and even bring our lunch over to us sometimes! Try the turkey burger if you are attempting a somewhat healthy approach, otherwise, the pizza is a must! ...with a side of spicy wing sauce of course! mmmm!

    (4)
  • Gina M.

Sorry, Jake's, but the pizza was almost inedible. It's as if they forgot the yeast in the dough or something. The large pizza weighed about 20 pounds and the crust was like very thick, heavy, dense, unleavened dough. That, coupled with skimpy sauce made it difficult to eat. Needless to say, the pizza ended up in the trash. Bummer!

    (2)
  • Paul P.

The food there is nothing special, but it is greasy. There's a lot of cheese which is a plus. I went there with my friends and we had a good time there (even played some of the arcade games). I have to say though that the worst part about that place is while you're eating but AFTER you're eating because I think some people have a bad reaction to their pizzas. My friend has the worst, nastiest gas you can ever imagine after eating their pizzas (he's not lactose intolerant) and it's not just smelly but it's sour (TMI?). We were playing some video games after eating and I could barely sit down because I was trying to stay by the screen-door so I could try to soak up some clean air while I was swimming in his gas.

Have since tried a cheeseburger - amazing! Tons of mustard & relish, not normally something I'd love or ask for on my burger, but it worked! The bun was great (why is it so hard to find good bread to accompany a burger anywhere?!) The friends from out of town I was with ordered various sandwiches & the hot dog - all raved about how delicious their meal was. I can vouch by the looks, and trust me, it all looked good. I'm happy to know that the rest of the menu is just as delicious as my usual - pizza 'n' wings! Only thing that could use some work is the dinner salad & fries....but everything else is delicious enough to make up for it, if that's any compensation.

  • Dale F.

I only give this place 3 stars, because I really don't think the pizza is very good. Now, the burgers and dogs? Those are good! I especially enjoy Jake's Deluxe (sub regular bacon for canadian bacon). MMMmmmm. Damn good.

Very good pizza. I think it is better for take out though. The chicken garlic supreme is a good standby.

best pizza hands on! Jakes is my favorite for pizza and they also have the best hot wings !! My fix right now on pizza and hot wings will and can only be satisfied by Jakes. I have to also say they have very good service also !! Try their combo pizza with some hot wings ..... it might make you feel so guilty afterwards ... but u won't regret it .... coz i didn't!! that's coz i had the celery and carrots that came with the wings ... fine .... i tried to make myself more comfortable after that all meat galore! but yeah, try!

Jake's is a nice little pizza/sports restaurant. Its great for a family event, watching local sports or just kicking back after work. They have a couple arcade machines for the adults and beer for the kids (kidding kidding). The food is good here. The pizzas have lots of cheese and lots of crust (not thin crust!). If you order the chicken strips, ask for all three sauces. The beer selection is good as they have bud, sierra nevada, pyramid and fosters among others. Parking can get a little crowded since it shares parking with Kragen and a mexican restaurant/bar. While there is parking in the back, it is a tight squeeze. Getting out of the parking lot is a little hairy as well since the cars parked on the street block the view of traffic.

Jakes. I love Jakes. Great place to come watch a bay area sporting event on TV; a clean, relaxed atmosphere that's family friendly. Oh, and their pitchers of Newcastle and Guiness are only $10, which is AMAZING. My favorite thing here is the gilroy garlic special pizza - an alfredo cream sauce topped with cheese, chunks of chicken, garlic out the wazoo, mushrooms, green onions, italian sausage, tomatoes and pepperoni. Good stuff. The asian chicken salad is also a favorite, and the sandwiches are decently passable. I used to love the wings but a couple have friends have gotten sick off of them, so I kind of stopped ordering them. Good, decent place. Parking can be tricky when packed, and it's a tad expensive (for the pizza, mainly). But good.

  • Lindsey A.

My beautiful sister-in-law brought us a pizza from Jake's last night. We have lived in Willow Glen for 5 years now and we've never attempted to order from here. But, luckily she did because the pizza was pretty decent. It was a white sauce pizza with chicken, mushrooms, and peppers. I definitely ate more than my share of the pizza, but it was no more impressive than a Round Table Chicken Garlic Supreme. We might give Jake's another shot....

oh jakes where do i begin. Consistency. All locations are equally delicious. Some are nicer inside, but i dont eat at a place for the decor. I have never had a variety/style of pizza from jakes i didnt like..I'm 29..been going to jakes since little league..maybe by now im just addicted?..probably..back to the pizza..best part of every pizza is the sauce. the tomato sauce has a very unique flavor, the cream sauce for the gilroy special (garlic pizza) is excellent and i even enjoy there bbq style pie as well. jakes is a couple bucks more than the average pie spot but u do get what u pay for. the cheese is always piled on thick, never ordered extra cheese here like i have in the past at other spots. I can also promise jakes will not skimp on delicious fresh toppings. Like i said all varieties are really good..sounds crazy but my personal favorite is the ground beef and onion. ordering this pizza has gotten some strange looks from friends..dont care..amazing. Sandwiches, burgers, hot wings, wraps, salads, fondue?,french fries, fried cheese, fried everything, lots of quality beers on tap but still have crappy bottled domestics, crap wine list (keeps the wine yuppies out), big ass screens with local sports showin. Thanks jakes for being my favorite thick crust pizza in the bay area!!

  • Cheryl C.

Just stopped in to order some wings and beer. Good service, clean restaurant (and clean restrooms), nice atmosphere, beer was good and so were the wings! We did order them w/ light on the sauce and they came out perfect. I'll definitely be back with more people and order more food!

  • Anne B.

I loved this place. . .garlicky pizza, TV's everywhere, dark wood booths, and a mixed crowd of families, couples, and singles. Our tasty fresh pizza had lots of good toppings and the crust was hot and chewy. I want to run down theere and get another one just thinking about it!!

  • Jolly A.

This place is your average local pizza joint. The pies are probably the upper-end of chain quality (if you're looking for the super-gourmet stuff, Willow Street Pizza is down the road), and most of the other menu items are good as well. Jake's doesn't really do anything particularly well, but it doesn't do anything poorly either. It has the old-school atmosphere of a pizza parlor, with big TVs, beer on tap served by the pitcher, etc. A little pricier than a lot of other places, but it's worth the price if you want a better pizza.

    (3)
  • Natalie Q.

Great food, great service, good people. Parking is limited, but worth it! Its all about the Curly fries!!!

  • Michelle A.

I am a pizza consumer! I love their pizza and wings. OMG. WOMDERFUL.. I do have to say I think their customer service can be a little better. They seem very click-ish and some of the cooks or help really talk about the customers. If it was not for the back staff this place would get 5 stars.

    (3)
  • Pam H.

Great place to get some burgers, fries and steak sandwiches. Oh yeah you can also get pitchers! You place your order and they provide you with a pager to notify you when the order is ready. Self service but good traditional American food. We will come back more often.

  • Shane B.

Came here for lunch to meet a buddy in Willow Glen. I had the Steak Sandwich and it was really good. The place had about 5 tv's and apparently it is a good spot to watch the Sharks. All I know is, the steak sandwich is good

    (4)
  • Justin C.

Great pizza. It is hard to find a better pizza in the area. JT McHart's in Cupertino was always my favorite until I had Jake's. I would say they are very close. Can't go wrong with either.

  • Diane M.

Drawbacks: parking is challenging, I hate places with video games (except Dave & Busters), and parents need to keep better reign over their kids Other than that, we generally like our food from here, and they have a few selections for the vegetarian among us. Service is always friendly, but maybe we get extra special treatment because we're local regulars. They have some good sandwiches, their burgers always get good ratings from my family members, and the pizza . . . well, let me put it to you this way: I am from New Jersey, so I gave up on pizza when I moved to San Jose ten years ago . . . however the item I most frequently order is their barbecue chicken pizza. How can this be? I just tell myself it's a big, round, open-faced sandwich. I don't think of it as pizza because what I am eating is not like pizza from "back home." But it tastes good. I am not normally a fan of thicker crusts, but again, it's just a big open-faced sandwich, so it's all good. (try adding artichoke hearts to this pizza, MMMMM)

  • Fernando B.

Awesome place. Just like The Garret. Gets packed during Sharks games. Great menu, good prices, good service. I placed an order by phone for a pizza, they said 25 minutes. It was ready and hot when I picked up it. Only $22 for a large with two toppings ( i got pineapple and ham) It was delicious. Great burgers too!

  • Ayelet B.

We came here for a quick lunch and had a good experience. The service was good and friendly. I ordered a pizza and it was a bit soggy, which was weird. It was great for a lunch break while beading since the service was fast. I probably should have read the Yelp reviews to know what the specialties are!

Yummy! You can find the whole P.M.S gang here on Friday's!

    (4)
  • Katie K.

I ordered my pizza to go, the toppings were fresh & good, however, the crust was way too thick for me. The pizza, not including the crust, had a dough layer at minimum 1/4" thick, too thick for me, and too add to it, the dough had zero flavor, like eating cardboard. Maybe it was a bad night, but the pizza was not one of my local favorites.

    (3)
  • Martin B.

the pizza sucks and the pitchers of beer are tiny. Maybe some of the other things are good I don't know and I'm not going back to find out. Two stars because it's good for families and the kids were having a good time running around the place. If you are happy with mediocre food you will love this place.

A great place to grab pizza and a few pitchers with friends. They also own the Garret, so it's the same menu and vibe. Jake's is just as good as the Garret, but it's not as crowded. A guaranteed good time.

  • Wayne P.

I really didn't like the pizza here. It is way below average for a non chain pizza parlor. I wanted to try the place again but the people that went with me the first time couldn't be dragged back in. I usually give a place a second chance, especially when it is in my neighborhood. I guess I'll have to go there alone....

  • SC Girl O.

I went here for my first time and immediately felt at home. You order at the counter and get a buzzer for when your food is ready. Normally these places disappoint me but not this time! We ordered a pitcher of beer, a quesadilla, the hot wings, and the asian chicken salad. All of it was awesome. I had to take half of the salad home and the quesadilla was buttery goodness. The chicken wings were real chicken and tasted soo good. All in all we left stuffed and eager to come back and try the pizza...all for under $35!!! Umm did I mention they are open till 11 pm on sundays when everyone else is closed!!!

  • Stuart M.

Just tried this place for the first time. I have to say I was disappointed by the pizza. I know that pizza is very much personal preference but I didn't find the pizza to be very flavorful. The crust is bread-like but on the bland side and heavy. The sauce is not great and even the cheese seemed to strangely lack flavor. As a result, I wouldn't recommend the pizza. I would, however, recommend the burgers and buffalo wings. The cheeseburger I had was very good. Great bun, fresh condiments and the patty tasted home-made. The buffalo wings are good, not great. But what do you expect from buffalo wings? I didn't try the BBQ wings but the hot wings have a good flavor although I didn't find them at all hot. We also had the curly fries, which were good, cooked crispy but nothing too out of the ordinary. I also really liked the laid back, family-friendly atmosphere. There's a big-screen TV that's great for sports fans. Parking is decent.

I have been going to the Jake's of Willow Glen since they first opened (replacing awful Babe's pizza). I have always been very happy with the food and service. In fact, it used to be my Friday night hang out. The pizza is very good, if you like classic west coast style. My favorite specialty pizza they serve is the Golden Greek--served with feta cheese, Italian sausage and pepperoncini. All of the Sandwiches are excellent (Philly Cheese steak is my favorite (although not authentic if that is what you are looking for). If you are looking for a burger they are good, but you can find a better one elsewhere. If you are looking for a great place to have a beer Jake's of Willow Glen a great option. Although it can get pretty crowded on a Friday night.

OMG, I had the best "Greek" Pizza ever! Square Chunks of Feta Cheese, Pepperocini's and Olives. This Pizza was Sooooo...DELICIOUS. I score it 4 Stars being that I haven't tried anything else on the Menu. This "Greek" Pizza was like nothing I have ever tasted, I went completely out of my confort zone and decided to try something different, dipped in a bit of Ranch and Perfecto! The Ranch helps with the spice :o). A Must Place to Check out!

Nayo was quite impressed with Jake's. Turned out to be a cool little Sports joint. We both had their Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches (I think N@ got Chicken) and we both loved it... I even took my left-overs home! The fries were also very good. This would be a cool place to go for a big televised sporting event. I wanna try their pizza next. B

This place is good pizza and yummy chicken tenders and salads. IT's a bit small so that's one thing that can be a bummer. If you go when it's busy, you can expect to wait or just get it to go.

When we're in the mood for wings, we think of Jake's. Other than that it seems like a typical pizza place. For what the pizza costs I'd rather go to Pizza My Heart.

Not the best pizza in town but it's good. For some reason our pizza was salty. The atmoshere is fun and it's great for families. I enjoy going to Jakes. They have a great menu. I ordered the cheese fondue once. It was ok. We come here often not so much for the pizza but for the atmosphere and it's in Willow Glen. Legends in Almaden has better pizza! BTW, I am not a Round Table fan.

Great pizza with fast and friendly delivery. Excellent place to watch the game! Excellent pour of Guiness and you have to try the fondue!!! Only complaint is there can be too many kids running around!

I was starving last night and decided to try Jakes pizza. I had heard they put out a decent pie and was pleasantly surprised they are open until midnight. I ordered the BBQ chicken and picked it up 20 minutes later. Upon opening the box my first thought was whoa that's a lot of sauce. Further disappointment came after taking a bite. The dough in the middle of this thing was still raw. Things kept getting worse. The chicken reminded me of what you would find on a Subway sandwich and the cheese was very low quality. I'm not sure why anybody would order pizza here. There are countless better options in the neighborhood.

Jakes is one of those great places to find in your neighborhood. Classic all American food choices, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, soups, salads, wings, the whole shooting match of Americana. The pizzas are done perfect at Jakes, super tasty hot sandwiches like "the old timer" and the chicken supreme are fresh and great tasting. Burgers are fried and mouth watering good, stacked with fresh produce. Go, go again, and then go one more time, enjoy!

A decent pizza place, although it did not give me any negative experiences, the place doesn't elicit a return visit unless I'm ever in the area and didn't know where else to go. Ordered the Gilroy special, and the crust was slightly too hard for me. Although it tasted good, but not great. The fried zucchini though was way better with a really flavorful and crispy coating. I would probably suggest cutting the zucchini in bigger pieces and I would be okay with getting less pieces because the actual zucchini itself kinda gets lost in the coating and probably from being the the fryer so long. It did actually come in quite a big serving and very good deal. We came here to watch the Giants game and drink mostly though. The beer selection is pretty good, with about 8 choices on draft and a lot ore bottled selection. Decently priced. The bar area only seats about 6, so rather small. Service is good. Nothing to praise nor complain about.

I love wings, anyone who knows me knows that I would lather myself in traditional wing sauce if it didn't burn in places you wouldn't want wing sauce. Jake's had the wing to sauce ratio I was looking for, not overly saucy if you know what I am saying. These bird parts were fried to perfection. I like how you order at the front and they bring the food directly to you. It is a cool bar if drinking is your thing. I love bar food, I also recommend the MOTZ sticks.

I came with the hopes of really liking Jake's pizza! Unfortunately, their bland pizza dough and lack of sauce did not suit me well. The crust is also dry. It felt like the pizza was missing something. I did like the amount of cheese and toppings they use though.Like many others, I did notice the quality of the ingredients. I just prefer a better cheese to sauce ratio. Jakes has lots of cheese which I am sure most love and I do too. Only I prefer for there to be a good ratio between cheese and sauce. I also liked that they had blackberry pear cider available at the bar.I also liked their wings! Definitely heed other reviews and order some of dems. My friends all really like Jake's, hence how I ended up here, but definitely not my go to pizza spot. My hunt continues. It was also a displeasure standing around while we waited for a table to open. Lots of people just hung out at their tables long after being done eating and drinking. My issue isn't with people hanging out. My issue is crowds hanging out while there are parties with food with no where to sit. My advice to you is to kindly ask to share the larger table if you notice empty seats. We did this with a large table and were met very kindly with yes's. This place is not very big so be ready to experience a crowd. Or just order for take out! Small parking lot in front of Jakes and another lot to the left of its neighboring restaurant, Puerto Azul.

Good old fashioned hot wings. Our hunt for good wings in the bay area is finally over! I couldn't believe it was so difficult to find a good wing place in the south bay. Isn't the bay area supposed to be the ethnic culinary mecca? You've got almost every food demographics covered, except Buffalo Wings, the true American finger-licking delicacy. Throughout our protracted and uneventful quest for good wings, we have had more than enough of heartbreaking disappointment: tiny teeny wings, old dried up wings, possibly microwaved before served wings, undercooked to uncooked wings, wings with unrendered under-the-skin fat (yuk!!!), wings with hair stubs still on (ewwww!!!), and soggy wings drenched in a puddle of murky sauce. Despite the continuous let-downs, we didn't give up. Eventually, the Yelp God pointed us to Jake's -- a bit out of the way for us, but good wings do exist here! I like my wings big, crunchy (twice or triple deep-fried), and covered in the simple acidic sauce of butter and hot sauce. Jake delivered it, and my husband and I were quite happy. While the wings were a tad too salty for my liking, they were good nonetheless. Curly fries and sandwiches were good as well. Service was great. Kentucky Derby was playing on TV. But nothing compares to the satisfaction of finding a good wing shop. P.S. Tap water tastes really funky... But I didn't pay for it so it was alright.

I used to live and eat near the Boardwalk in Los Altos which is basically the same family of restaurants. Boardwalk is gone now so while in the area late we went for old times. This one seemed kind of dead though. Got a personal pizza and chicken strips. I used to love the latter but here they were slightly over so the batter was dark, however chicken was not overly dry. Pizza was ok with sauce being sour so i had to correct with some salt . Not sure if it was an end of night thing but these places have usually been consistent so i was a bit surprised being underwhelmed this go around. Seems all the cops around here love it though and showed up right before closing. Oh and some crazy construction started while we were eating closing off the front road outside making us detour around back.
